Why did Mr. Radley fill up the hole with cement? If the Radleys were leaving "surprises" in the knot-hole everyday, then I don't understand why they would fill it up? And we all know that the tree was obviously not dying like Mr. Radley said...so what other purpose does he have then to crush the happiness of two little kids?
ALSO...does anyone else find it plain creepy that Scout and Jem found little dolls that look just like them? I don't know what you guys think, but whoever made those sounds like a big, fat creeper to me.

True that, way creepy. I dont understand about the whole filling the knot hole with cement?
Yes, that is creepy.....and disturbing too!
But he probably filled the hole with cement because he knows who has been leaving the stuff in the tree and he doesn't want him to do it anymore.
the "dolls" were carved firgures out of soap. pay attention to details!
I think that Boo Radley is leaving the things in the knot hole for the kids to find and his bother filled it up to stop him.
This is just a prediction, but i think it is a strong possibility.
They're obviously keeping him from having any contact with people. They've shut him in the house for years. If Mr. Radley were to figure out Boo was coming out and leaving things he would put a stop to it.
Sweet picture though.
That is creepy indeed. Which chapter is this in?
Yea...that is really creepy!! I don't know why he would fill the hole up. I was pretty sure that it was one of the Radley's who put the stuff in there.
Excuseeeeeee me Authority Figure, but I know that they were out carved out of soap. Unfortunatly I couldn't find any pictures of soap-carved dolls on Google Image search.
P.S- it's in chapter 7.
excuuuuse me sofreshsomean but maybe you should have looked up a picture of dove body soap to go along with the doll picture??
HAHAHA, that was funny! You are right. Maybe I should have. Next time.
Lame.
It could have been Boo just trying to do something nice for someone because he had been locked up in the house for so ling and wanted some contact with the outside world. Maybe Nathan Radley didn't want him to be incontact with anyone for some reason.
I find it quite peculiar that whoever did carve the dolls spent enough time to make them look just like the kids. It was abviously someone who knew their image very well, or was constantly watching them. After an artist has to have the original image to make a drawing, or in this case, a carving of them. I think this leads to only one conclusion.... The carver IS ATTICIOUS! No, I dont really think so, but what if, what if?
I have to admit it is creepy that they found look-alike dolls. It's even creepier that they were made of soap, so that they had to of been made to look like them. Aren't voodoo dolls made of soap sometimes? (Yes, i know that i'm not an expert on voodoo and that i'm probably totally wrong.) i do not know why they are getting the gifts! I agree with the conclusion that it was probably Boo Radley, though.
