I am so confused!
Does anyone understand why in the world Miss Caroline is angry with Scout for knowing how to read?
I'll tell you who doesn't ME! Let me know what you think on the subject.

I think she is mad because she is supposed to learn the decimal dewey-whatever way and Scout has learned to read the "wrong" way.
Ms. caroline is mad becuase she is a new young teacher in a town she didnt grow up in, so when scout tries to correct her, she takes it offensive because she gets embarrassed that she is "new to maycomb ways." or something along those lines.
I think it's just because Miss Caroline has a some sort of complex and since Scout doesn't need her help to learn to read she got offended.
You know, since she's making her relearn how to read.
I don't know. Apparently she wants to teach all the kids how to read using her "new" way. But still, she shouldn't get upset just because someone already knows how to read, because there is no "right" or "wrong" way to learn to read, just so long as you understand what you are reading. Miss Caroline in my opinion is just overreacting.

That is a good question! I do not get this either. The only thing that I can figure out is that she thinks she has to be the one to teach her to read and does not want it to come from anyone else....but I honestly am not for sure.
Miss Caroline is mad because she doesent want Scout to have learned to read the wrong way, which is why she said she wanted Atticus to stop teaching her.

I think it is because Miss Caroline thinks that Scout will learn more and have an easier time reading and writing if she learns it the way Miss Caroline learned it in college. I don't think she is trying to be mean, she just wants what is best for Scout.

I think Ms. Caroline is mad because she doesn't want Scout to learn how to read the wrong way. I think she also feels a little offended because shes supposed be the one who teaches the kids and theres someone else who thinks that they know more than her. I don't know...
I don't think that Scout has been taught how to read the wrong way, and I only have ideas of why Miss Caroline is keeping her from reading. Miss Caroline could just be trying to be certain that nothing in that informal education has been overlooked and keep authority at the same time. Miss Caroline seems like she cares very much what everyone thinks of her, and she might be embarrassed that she doesn't know the Maycomb ways.

There is no "wrong" way to learn to read!!! Why are people still arguing about that??? If she can read, she can read, so appearently she didn't learn it wrong cause it's impossible to be able to read and to have learned it wrong!
Please tell me what gives you the idea that the '@' can take the place of '!' or that 29 '!'s are in any way necessary. Ugh.
