Mr. Dolphus Raymond
In chapter 20, Lee shows us that Mr. Dolphus Raymond is not really a drunk. Instead, he drinks Coca Cola and continues to let people think that he is drinking whiskey, just to give them a reason to accept the way he lives. I think it is really sad when people have to hide behind a fake identity just because their lifestyle does not meet the standards of the people around them. What do you guys think?

I dont know, it seems that he doesnt really mind pretending to be drunk, I think it just amuses him. It's an outlet for him to live the happiest way he wants, and there is nothing wrong with that. people would think the same thing about him, with our without the mystery bottle in the paper sack.
I agree 100%. It's sad how people have to do things in so that they can get away with others. By that I mean, it's sad how Mr. Raymond pretends to be drunk just so that he can get away with his stupid actions.
Well, what TaskMaster is trying to say is that they don't like that people won't accept whether he is a drunk or not. I think they are trying to convey that Mr. Raymond should be free to amuse himself in whatever way he wants without being criticized by others. Right?

I agree. Our society today really consists of people like this. They feel as though in order to "keep up with Jones" they have to do certain things even if it is against the law or their morals. This is definitely sad. There are too many sterotypes these days.
I just dont understand why u feel bad i love the way he lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
